The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources, Akwa Ibom, Rt Hon (Dr) Ekong Sampson has described the fast ravaging Corona Virus as ‘raindrop that spares no roof’.

The State Cabinet member made the strong assertion when he led the Mkpat Enin team of the Akwa Ibom COVID-19 Relief Materials Disbursement for the dispatching of the items throughout the four clans of the council area.

Speaking at Ibiaku clan, Dr Sampson categorically philosophized by that the ‘Corona virus is like raindrop, which spares no roof’, asserting that the deadly man eater can consume just anyone in its fury.As such the need for all and sundry to keep to the recommended health precautions and for all hands to be on deck to help keep the virus at a distant bay.

He went to pour encomiums on Governor Udom Emmanuel, describing him as ‘a man who is very sympathetic and passionate about the welfare of the citizens of the state most especially Mkpat Enin’ and also extolled the state’s Chief Executive for what he described as ‘a timely intervention to help provide succour in the face of the worldwide health pandemic’.

Also speaking at Ibiaku, a prominent son of the area and the current PDP chapter chairman, Hon Anietie Sunday who was among those on hand to receive the items thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for his magnanimous benevolence, which he believe will go a long way in cushioning the harsh effects of the lockdown.

As the fully loaded relief caravan landed in Ikpa Ikono clan, the clan youth president, Comrade Idongesit Umoetuk in the company of the clan head and other leaders of the clan commended the Governor for what he described as ‘a timely gesture’ and also thanked the youths for helping in the peaceful distribution of the materials to all the villages in the clan.The team lead, Dr Sampson expressed that the Governor provided the materials to help boost the welfare of the people of the area in these very trying times.

At Ukpum Minya , the team was received at the historic Clan Hall in Ikot Ekpuk by the clan head, HRH Etebom Archibong Umanah alongside youth and opinion leaders from the area. The Ukpum Minya royal father towed the same glowing line of previous clans by thanking Governor Udom Emmanuel for ‘remembering them in their times of need’.

The relief materials train finally berthed at the palace of the clan head of Ikpa Ibom, HRH Etebom Moses Ukpong who expressed delight at the Governor’s gesture as well as to Dr Sampson and his committee members for taking the pains to ensure a hitch free distribution of the items.

Speaking at the brief interface, Dr Sampson thanked all the stakeholders for their cooperation and support in the ensuring a smooth and peaceful distribution of the materials describing it as satisfying. Others who also spoke at the short parley included the Council Chairman, Hon Ekanen Brown, Youth Council Chairman, Hon Emem Alex, Prince Nse Essien, Hon. Innocent Tom among others.

Other members of the Mkpat Enin Covid-19 Relief Materials Distribution Committee who joined in the disbursement included the Council Chairman, Hon Ekanem Brown, the Senior Special Assistant, Power, Engr Meyen Etukudo, Commissioner in the Civil Service Commission, Mrs Idara Ephraim Akpan, Board Member of EARCOM, Dr Imeofon Udoh, Hon Emem Alex, representative from IPAC among others.
